"Berührende" is a research project by two performers and a quadruped robot, similar to a robotic dog. The final performance is captured in an artistic 2-minute film. The performance explores the relationship between humans and machines, reflecting on different forms of representation and investigating whether intention can be transmitted through movement.
Machines serve humans by helping them achieve their goals with greater precision. However, the more we endow them with our own abilities—especially precision and autonomy—the more they begin to resemble us. Machines become robots: a counterpart to the human. SILK Fluegge has long been exploring this theme through performances and installations. At the heart of this exploration lies the question: What happens when humans and robots encounter one another?
In the project "Berührende", choreography is examined as a potential interface between humans and robots. Can a genuine connection be formed—a touch? Or does the desire to humanize the robot remain dominant?
A film documents both the process and the final performance. Artificial intelligence is also used in the film editing process—to examine how AI interprets movement and whether cultural influences become visible through that interpretation.
