[Who] Rules to Encounter

How will we interact with AI systems and humanoid robotics in the future? How do we want to integrate autonomous humanoid robotics into social life and work? These questions are at the heart of the artistic research project by artist and choreographer Silke Grabinger and the Academy for Theater and Digitality Dortmund. In iterative development sprints with dancers from the Ballett Dortmund / NRW Junior Ballet, students, inclusive ensembles, and amateur groups, rules for interaction with humanoid robotics are developed and tested artistically and choreographically. The movements are documented via motion capture with generative AI. Over the course of the project, a behavioral library for interaction with humanoid robotics is to be created. Finally, the findings will be made artistically accessible to the public in one-on-one performances and presented at festivals.

The research process is being iteratively supported by academics (including those from TU Wien, JKU Linz, and the Linz University of Art) and publicly discussed. A further partner will be The Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML, Dortmund).
